About The Artist

Sophie Bolton is a queer and non-binary fiber artist currently based in Columbus, Ohio.

Starting in 2013, Sophie began their journey in fiber arts by building looms and weaving intricate wall hangings. They took up hook-latch and hand embroidery in 2016 and moved to tufting in 2020.

Sophie is currently offering commission works by request and offering education in tufting through local workshops and classes.

Subject matter revolves around themes of the everyday; objects we can’t live without, things that may provide small moments of joy. Recreating small trinkets into large scale fiber works is a celebratory act that magnifies the beauty of ordinary objects. Glorifying accessible and common objects through scale and material is a testament and rebellion against capitalist value.
